At the high tide roost this morning were nearly 500 Dunlin and 200 Ringed Plovers. The Curlew Sandpiper, sadly not in breeding plumage, eventually showed very well.
An Osprey, presumably from up the valley, appeared close by at 11.50 and headed out towards the sea and immediately returned on the Aberdyfi side before crossing over and plunging into the water near the Clettwr before heading upstream at 12.00.
A Merlin dashed across the saltings where 21 Whimbrels gathered. On the meadows behind the caravans there were still plenty of Wheatears and 2 Golden Plovers in breeding plumage. Nearby a Grasshopper Warbler was reeling.
