High tide at Ynyslas

Despite a fresh wind and the odd shower it was quite mild early on, but not what you would hope for on the 1st August.
A brief visit to the prom at Aberystwyth produced eight Turnstones, then it was off to Ynyslas.
On the estuary side the tern posts were fully occupied with Sandwich Terns with plenty more on the edge of the saltmarsh. I managed a count of 128.
Then to the point to look for waders. Nothing unusual, but counts of 17 Sanderling, 55 Dunlin and 51 ringed Plover gave me something to scan through in the hope of something more unusual.
On the way back I met Red Liford who had had three Whimbrel near the boatyard.
