Ynys Las Little Tern Sunday 12th Aug

High Tide was high enough and early enough to deter all but one dogwalker who made a U turn when he saw my scope and in addition the tip of the peninsula is roped off with the 'danger unexploded ordnance' signs to which I was tempted to add 'and dragons' just to make sure people stick to the route below the dunes.
So all alone amid the squalls I was rewarded with a superb adult Little Tern with infant and nearby adult Arctic amid 20+ Sandwich Terns which included some beautifully marked juvs.  The wader flock did some nice fly- bys comprising mainly Ringed Plovers and Dunlin but with a scattering of breeding plumaged Sanderling.
With the flock frequently moving and being augmented by passing birds it was hard to do a count but anyone coming on the 'watch' tomorrow morning can have a go!

A visiting birder from Derby had also heard a couple of Peres crossing the estuary.

Yesterday there were 3 Whimbrel on the banks of the Leri and a Dunlin on the Glandwr pond which is largely dry and difficult to see because of the reedbed.
