World gone wrong

I dare say that in the fullness of time it will become clear what has been happening to our breeding birds in this mixed up, messed up spring/summer. I remember reading in this blog about that very late arrival of arctic waders heading north at Ynys Las and now I've been reading that these same birds are returning early, presumably having failed to breed this year. I got to Llanrhystud quite early this morning and there was an interesting mix of species present in various stages of breeding plumage. Highlight was a beautiful orange/red Knot. Also, 2 Common Sandpipers,6 Dunlin, 10 Sanderling, 16 Whimbrel. No Mediterranean Gulls about but a Kittiwake was drifting along the shoreline.
