Cross Inn Woods
On Sunday 28 DecemberI saw a Great Grey Shrike in the first clearing as you walk from the parking area on the Cross Inn to Bethania road. As I turned to leave, a male Hen Harrier came past about 30 feet away then circled around and did a second close fly past. I believe that the GGS was still there today, as was a Merlin.
Many thanks to Bob for arranging this. Blywyddyn newydd dda i pawb! Phil Dennis

Walked down from roadhead above Llyn Egnant to the carpark at Tyncwm on Mon. Very cold East wind, lots of frozen water underfoot, NO birds on the lakes, one stonechat female by the dam and a robin plus mipit in a sheltered valley. Kicked up a snipe at the waterfall where moving water had kept it muddy. Kite, raven and peregrine were nevertheless scouring the hills tho' in the wind barely using any energy. Lovely sunsets at Plas Treflyn against which to see the incoming woodcock.
Happy New Year Cere birdwatchers.
