Like Martin Perry on the 19th, I had 6 singing Wood Warblers this morning. An improvement on the last two years. In 2020 I heard only one, far lower than any other year for some reason. Due to lockdowns I actually went back on a couple of occasions that May to double check, since I can walk there from my house, but still just the one. Prior to this numbers were much higher (going back to 2007) peaking at 10 in 2014 and 11 in 2017. After this date, clearance work has been undertaken at both ends of the site to remove conifers. These areas used to hold 1-3 birds. So, bearing this in mind, the count of 6 is perhaps a return to "normal."
