LAPLAND BUNTING

A Lapland Bunting was at Llansantffraed earlier today. It was calling as it flew back and forth low over a coastal meadow between the village and lime kilns. It is a very characteristic call but one I do not hear very much so, having made a few scribled notes, I got home and played both a DVD and CD and listened to the flight calls and it confirmed my sighting. The bird never settled and eventually disappeared over the meadows towards the church.
A few Wigeon and Teal were on the sea and a couple of Red-throated Divers. 100 or so Golden Plovers and 4 Grey Plovers were on the pebbles, plus the resident albino Oystercatcher.
