Went out for a very enjoyable tetrad visit this morning in the bright morning sun. Two nice little paths link the Cwm Brefi and Ffarmers roads and make a nice circuit. However the drifts within them were unavoidable and some were up to my eyeballs. I was able to walk on top of some but others I fell into up to my chest. The views up here were fantastic and the silence sublime. Snow drifts are so much more fun when you don't have to go to work in them. On Tuesday I escaped the many thick drifts around Synod Inn by the skin of my teeth whist working in Brynhoffnant. Three of my colleagues were less fortuneate, being trapped in their vehicles for a couple of hours before being dug out by farmers/police.
Saw just 3 Robins and 3 Wrens in 2hours but Blue/Great/Coal Tits were all extremely common. There was a Dipper in Cwm Brefi and 3 Stock Doves outside the village. On the way home I spotted 6 Whooper Swans (4 ads 2 juvs) resting in a field between Llanddewi and Pont Llanio, my first for a couple of years I think, and a very nice finish to the morning.
