The 'Otter' on the Leri

This afternoon at around 2pm I popped down to the Leri to look for the otter which Bob had spotted. I saw it from the road bridge and I agree with Bob it looked like a 'dog' otter. I suspect its probably a regular and accustomed to human activity as it seemed quite unconcerned about my presence. I had fantastic views of it foraging in the river. I took a few photos but as usual my attempts at wildlife photography end up being rather poor so the attached is the best I can do. Janet Baxter or Kevin Joynes your undisputed skills are required! I reckon if you guys pay a visit to this location you will get your best shots 'ever' of an Otter! Bob saw it in the morning and myself in the afternoon so I reckon your chances of seeing it are 'high' during its foraging forays.
Thanks Bob for putting your sighting on the blog. The otter has a very special place in my heart. The very first book I read in my youth was 'Ring of Bright Water' by Gavin Maxwell and it changed my life. You will probably know that it was a story about his pet otters and his time living on the beautiful west coast of Scotland.
The scaup was still on the Leri but down river of the road bridge.
I had great views of a male hen harrier hunting over the Aber Leri marsh from the path by the railway bridge. Lots of wigeon lower down river and redshank, teal etc;
Despite being cold I was smiling like a Cheshire cat on the way home after seeing the otter!
