A wintry walk

Like dogs, small boys need to be regularly exercised, and so I took Tomos(4 and a half) on a long trek to visit his friend Jorge(3 and a half). As we ascended the slippery road from Betws Bledrws we spotted tracks that crossed the lane, through the mesh fence and out across the field. I thought maybe they could have been a Hare and in my mind I could 'see' it lolloping across the snow. Tomos, however, could 'see' a Stegasaurus. At the top of the hill is a small area of mixed forestry. A Crossbill flew over. There were lots of birds at Jorge's house, which borders the woods, including a Willow Tit that was making astonishingly frequent visits to the feeder. On our return we passed a Dunnock, so weak that we could almost have picked it up.
