WADERS

Harry, Pete (Peter Scott from Hull making one of his regular visits) and I began the morning with 12 Purple Sandpipers on the rocks beside the wooden jetty by Aberystwyth harbour.
Then on to Llanrhystud where there was a pair of Goosanders just offshore and on the pebbles 80+ Curlews, 16 Grey Plovers, 10 Redshanks, 7 Ringed Plovers and a Dunlin.
The Curlews and Redshanks flew off towards Llansantffraed where we caught up with them. By then Curlew numbers were at least 140, plus a Bar-tailed Godwit.
225 Golden Plovers were on the meadow behind the shore. With the Oystercatchers
along the shore was the white one which has lived happily along the coast there for some years.
Just offshore were 36 Wigeon and a lone, displaying male Red-breasted Merganser.
Finally, we glimpsed a Dipper in the stream by the church.
