Easter report from Brenda Cook and Alan Lyne

2nd April - Friday afternoon we drove up the road to Llyn Eiddwen, bit windy but otherwise weather was perfect, highlight was some Crows thinking they were chasing a Merlin which casually flew low over the lake before taking to the scrub. Raven, Red Kite, Buzzards all looked as if they had paired up. On the lake were 4 female Goosanders and 1 male, Teal, a pair of Canada Geese, a pair of Grey Lag Geese, Mallard, Tufted Duck, a pair of Muscovy Ducks, Great Black-backed Gull, Herring Gulls, smaller birds included Skylark, Pied Wagtail, Meadow Pipit, Stonechat and as we were leaving a couple of Common Sandpipers darted into the sedge.
3rd April - Saturday we visited Cors Ian, very quiet, a number of the nest boxes looked as if they had recently been taken over including one that had fresh mud along the lid so we guess a pair of Nuthatch were taking up residence.
4th April - Sunday we repeated the walk at Penbryn, still no Stonechats but the woods were full of ChiffChaff. Dippers were in evidence. A pair of Ravens put on a brief display and two male Kestrels flew over quite high in the company of a female Kestrel, lots of calling but no action. Earlier around 9.30 we watched an Otter swim northwards across the bay.
