I've been thinking a bit more about what you suggested yesterday Liz re Willow Warblers at Cross Inn Forest. I would be very grateful and interested if anyone can shed some light on the following question in my mind which is; If you hear Willow Warblers at a site like Cross Inn Forest in late April what proportion of them are likely to be transitory migrants and how many are setting up permanent teritories?
When I noted those high numbers in 2007(and 2009 to some extent) did I just happen to visit in the midst of a small "fall" that only affected Willow Warblers, temporarily inflating their numbers?
Or,has there been a genuine decline in the breeding population as I at first suspected?
At Bethania today(in the area around the bottling plant) the usual suprisingly good selection of birds inc; Whitethroat 10, Sedge Warbler 23, Grasshopper Warbler 7, and a Cuckoo, different possibly to the Cross Inn bird.
