Yesterday morning we were pleased to see a young young Dipper at Cwmrheidol, sometimes catching its own food but generally relying on a a parent bird.
A House Martin looked a bit forlorn as it perched on a low wall where it remained for a considerable time. One wonders on the impact of the cold start to May on many of the insectivorous birds. Migration would seem to have been somewhat delayed in some cases with those reports of large numbers of migrating Swallows and Martins and the huge number of passage waders seen over the weekend.
The bitterly cold winter this year has also had its impact. For example Stonechats seem to be very this in the ground and, sadly, I have seen none of ther 'white' Buzzards in the Rheidol valley. Did they succumb?
