Foel, Eglwys Fach

Just got back from an afternoon stroll clockwise around the Foel ending up walking past Roy and Vicky Bamford's house and down the Artist's Valley road. Not a lot on the Foel, a couple of Buzzards, Willow warbler and heard Mipit plus 20 or so small heath butterflies. As we walked down past Roy and Vicky's to cross the river matters improved with Pied Flycatchers, Willow and Wood warbler lots of Chaffinches and Wren. As we set off down the road a pair of Spotted Flycatchers were feeding in the trees, the first of the year for me, Blackcap and Garden warbler, Swallows, Mistle Thrush, Siskin and Blackbirds all added to the singing. The wild flowers were wonderful with a beautiful palette of Violets, Stitchwort, Celandine, Wood Sorrel, Herb Robert, Bilberry and Bluebells all in profusion. The walk was rounded off by the sight and sound of a super swarm of honey bees in a leylandii down by the main road.
