Tawny Success

Have been away and spoilt rotten as far as cuckoos ,green woodpecker, nesting black redstarts and red squirrel are concerned. The number of swifts were about the same as last year, not that many. However since arriving home from Normandy we were delighted to find that we have a young tawny ,not long left the security of the nest ,no doubt the downpour on Saturday would have been the deciding factor.Just the one spotted so far .As its only means of defence it adopted the droopy winged frozen position, and it worked! We have a resident male Tawny in the lane and this is the 2nd time in the 8 years we have lived here that we know for sure that they have been successful.
