Barnies etc.

Yesterday afternoon, whilst Liz was enjoying the drizzly delights of Llanrhysted beach, searching for grockles and Med Gulls, Tony Cross and I were in the warm and dry - ringing Barn Owl chicks. Three broods were rung - two of three and one of two. All were doing well although, as per usual with Barnies, there was quite a size/age range in each brood.

Today , whilst sat in the garden enjoying an after lunch cup of tea - a whoosh of wings scattered the Blackbird and Finch families in the shrubbery - a glimpse of a brown back and barred tail - was it a juvenile Sparrow Hawk or a Goshawk -?? From the manner in which it disappeared between the trees I tend to favour the latter??
