I can only say that the two herring gulls that spotted me munching through a rain-swept windscreen had impeccable manners, waiting patiently for the anticipated crumbs . Not their fault that we've tempted them with goodies from the pinnacles of human cuisine:pasties,ice-cream and curried chips. I did, surreptitiously, sling a crust out. It was the guilt from long ago nearly choking one with a stale hot cross bun from under the back seat.
8 dunlin, 3 ringed plover, and numerous manxies and diving gannets in exchange for a soaking yesterday...call it penance.
