Last year we had our best HM year, 2 on the north gable and 2 on the south. This year, after all the nests, except one on the south, had been demolished by House Sparrows we have had only one brood from this re-fortified nest, which was recently found, disintegrated on the ground, I believe due to 'weight of numbers. On the north end we have had one pair dallying and just 'playing' at building on two occasions, one about a week ago and earlier soon after first arrival. Last year we had multi broods from all nests.
For the first time we had Swifts 'looking at' both gable ends on two different occasions, first about a fortnight after arrival and about a month ago - must get boxes sorted for next year. That scream is just the essence of summer for me.
