Reading Red's reports on great grey shrikes I've had a report this evening from the local Dyfi fisheries river bailiff Gwilym Thomas that he had seen a great grey in the Dyfi valley yesterday between Dyfi bridge and Dolgelynen farm on the Aberdyfi road so if you Northern resident cardies are shopping in Mach tomorrow it might be worth just popping over the border to take a look for it!
I visited Newtown today to look for the waxwings at Coleg Powys. I met Gareth Morgan there as well as Tony Cross. Gareth and I had a maximum count of 70 birds today but there have been 100 or so. Well worth taking a drive there over the A.44 or A.487 to see these absolutely stunning birds! (See Montgomery blog for further information and some great photos of the birds by some local birders).
