Great Grey Shrike

Great excitement in the Liford household this morning when a great grey shrike landed in the tree above our birdtable. Unfortunately it didn't hang around long, flying off westward. There is quite a bit of forestry over that way so we are now on 'Shrike Alert' hoping it will stay around. The little birds were very reluctant to come back to the bird table, but now we've put seed on the lawn and there are about 40 greenfinches and chaffinches there, it might encourage the shrike to make a return visit.
