Great White Egret

At Aberleri this morning I counted c100 Wigeon, c225 Teal and c130 Linnet. There were also Curlew, Redshank, Mallard, Mute Swans, Oystercatcher and lots of Starlings. After I had been scanning the saltings for about 10 minutes I noticed a Merlin. I don't know how long he had been there but he was sat on a post practically right under my nose. While I was watching him a Great White Egret lumbered into view and landed in amongst the salt grass. I carried on watching for another 30 minutes or so but it didn't show again.
