We made a tentative attempt for the Surf Scoters today, but again we were thwarted by the surf! And there we also a lot of surfers about. We found a few rafts of Scoters but to make an ID at the distance with the wind and surf was difficult. We saw a couple birding and they hadnt picked them up either.
There were 5 Snow Buntings though foraging in the car park and eating seed put dpwn for them.
The Starling roost at Aberystwyth Pier wasnt as good as last night, which was a shame as it was being filmed by 3 camera men tonight.
In the University Fields by the junction to Capel Dewi in Bow Street, and before the railway bridge, there were 15 Buzzards on the ground, presumably looking for worms etc! A lovely sight to see!
Re the Ystumtuen Barn Owl, we often see one drifting over the A44 at the other road up here and have seen it over then Henrhiw. We too hope it stays high as it crosses the road, unlike an unfortunate Buzzard this week.
