Yesterday I was reminded to take my bins with me to town as earlier in the week on Monday we had spotted a seal near Castle point feeding on high tide.No such luck yesterday the sea was not so calm ,but did manage to see 4 purple sandpipers tucked up on the narrow ledge near by.The water was lapping around them but they seemed not to mind. The closest one however did look up at me and decided I wasn't a threat either and tucked its very long strong beak back into its shoulder demonstrating how at home they are in this environment, waiting patiently and efficiently for the tide to go out.
