Smart Starling

Three starlings called here on Thursday afternoon, but there was hardly any
food in the tray for ground feeders. A male chaffinch was fluttering at the
hanging seed feeder, snatching seeds which had fallen at the base of the
column. One starling then copied the trick. It fluttered next to the cage,
held on to a bar with its left foot, and poked its head through to snatch
some seeds. It repeated the trick two more times. We've never seen starlings
do this before. Talk about acrobatic!
