A group of 10 wheatear in one of the fields near the lime kilns this morning, on a patch of ground which was previously a manure heap.
9 curlew on the beach, plenty of sand martin activity, and my first swallow of the year flying north. Heard willow warbler, blackcap and chiff chaff (and at least two wren) around the lime kilns, and skylark in a nearby field.
Butterflies: speckled wood, red admiral and small tortoiseshell around the lime kilns; holly blue and orange tip in my garden.
A pair of blue tits have started building a nest in a hole above my office window, accompanied by lots of loud tapping, and chunks of moss dropping past the window. Hope they’ll be a bit quieter once they’ve actually moved in!
