Quite a large family of Goosander's on the Rheidol (cwmrheidol area) I saw them a few days ago in a very isolated spot and again today but they are so difficult to approach they see you a mile away and scatter I think around eight or possibly more. Around the house the gathering Martin groups are getting bigger every day I have two nests that have just thrown out clean eggshells and two with chicks. I've been watching a late Swift that has been flying with the Martins over the last fortnight I keep thinking it has gone however, tonight I had the opportunity to observe it again for five minutes or more and it turns out it is not one but two! I think the 1st September was the last spotted in 2010 so keep your eyes peeled folks perhaps they will stick around later this year they usually fly just above the big band of mainly Martins and a few Swallows circulating around Bow Street.
