Cors caron

In late Sept I was scratching to find a bird along the railway line but today its Autumn as usual: 75 wigeon,14 mallard,6 tufties plus a few teal and the single lesser Black back were on Maes Llyn. The lane was full of small birds with 2 large flocks of redwing and fieldfare arriving to feast on the hawthorn berries. If you have small people to educate and are watching Autumnwatch then a visit to the carpark in the old layby and walk north will produce good views and a chance to hear the soft wispy whistle featured in the mystery sounds on Friday's programme. The pic is a cheat: taken on a campsite in Sweden this May it was feeding young.
