Back to my apparent fixation with colour-ringed gulls.
Bob and I called in at New Quay this morning where apart from the numerous Gannets, the 1000 or so Herring Gulls were the most obvious feature. Amongst them were a couple of colour-ringed birds, both with dark blue rings with red letters. One was EHZ and the other was EZM.
Once I get their details from the relevant ringing group I will put them on the blog.
We then went to Cardigan to see the obliging Ring-billed Gull which did not disappoint.
Later, Chris Bird was at Aberystwyth watching the gulls flying in to roost by the pier.
By the time the light faded at least 50 Mediterranean Gulls had arrived and more were coming in as he left. 4 juv Sandwich Terns were on College Rocks.
