Yellow-legged Gull

An adult Yellow-legged Gull in the gull roost on Pencarreg Lake this evening. Pencarreg is just on the wrong side of the Teifi i.e in Carmarthenshire but as its just down the road its a site that I keep a close eye on. The gull roost, which consists of mainly Lesser Black-backed Gulls can contain up to 2000 birds. During the day the roost disperses and the gulls forage widely in the surrounding countryside - Carms & Ceredigion.

There have only been five(ish) records of Yellow-legged Gull in Ceredigion to date but with up to six different birds present at Pencarreg in recent winters this is obviously a species that occurs in our county more regularly than the number of records suggest.
