Ysgol y Dderi, Llangybi

Back to school this morning to help with a bit of bird identification. With several feeders set up, as many as 50 birds could be seen at any one time. Like last year there were about 20 Siskins present. A single Redpoll was a good bird but not bright enough to excite your average six year old!
A week last Monday I managed to get great views of the Starlings crossing Talgarreg and Bwlch y Fadfa on their way to roost. The light was perfect. The sky cloudless. The sun red, resting on the horizon. I was able to time my arrival at various postboxes to coincide with their arrival. Fortunately, the second main group appear ten minutes after the first and about two miles further down the road. I thought previously that there might be 50000 birds though on this occasion I estimated 30000. Take your pick.
