As David's picture shows love is in the air so Elaine and I took ourselves down to Newquay for a walk in this splendid wood hoping to find a lesser spot calling.....well no not that lucky but the wood was abuzz with tits, goldcrests ,blackbirds, robins, and wrens. There is a newly cleared and signed path through it and new nestboxes;does anyone know who owns it? I recall their being a huge number of blue tits in this tetrad last year which I thought odd but with such good woodland habitat and early Spring warmth, the cause is clear, contrasting to my walk in the Strata woods almost devoid of birdlife at the week-end.
We also walked through the Woodland Trust wood along the river north-west of Llanarth and watched a dipper collecting and delivering nest material...little blighter didn't show me that last year during the Atlassing!
