Black tailed godwits

Early afternoon, there were four black tailed godwits on a pool in the wet field at Llanrhystud. Easily identified by long straight orange and black bill, long legs, orange neck, and in the case of two individuals strong barring.

Hundreds of gulls in the fields, some following plough, mostly black-headed with fewer Meditterrean and some herring gulls.

Alas, no wheatears. Nor warblers at lime lilns or godwits on the way back.

Finally, a redhead was power-walking along the shingle beach to Llanrhystud and back to Llanon. She said she did it in 25 mins, I hope that she meant one way, whatever she must have bigger muscles than Molly Malone.
