1st Chiff Chaff of the year singing at 7am this morning. Dippers and
Mallard are very active on the River Wyre, although the latter generally
nest up on the valley slopes. Still flocks of 1-200 Siskin/Goldfinch
feeding on Larch. Flocks of 100+ Jackdaws at dusk. GS Woodpeckers
drumming. Calling Crossbill and Redpoll.
Dippers were also vocal on the Wyre down in Llanrhystud, where another
Mistle Thrush was also gathering nesting material whilst emitting a very
strange staccato call I'd not heard before...
