Hits and misses

Went on my annual pilgrimage, starting at Soar y Mynydd down through Dalar Wen to Llyn Brianne, then back up Cwm Pysgotwr and Cwm Doethie. Birds seen in good numbers inc Pied Flycatcher, Wood Warbler, Grasshopper Warbler, Siskin, Redpoll, Crossbill, Wheatear, Sparrowhawk, Stonechat, Grey Wagtail. There was a Little Grebe on the pool near Soar y Mynydd, a Common Sandpiper at the chapel, a Kestrel in Cwm Doethie and a Willow Tit in Dalar Wen. Some species seemed notably reduced cf 2011. Just one Reed Bunting(7-2011),one Yellowhammer(6-2011),9 Whinchats in Cwm Doethie(23-2011). On the other hand Cwm Doethie was buzzing with Tree Pipits. I counted 25. There were also 3 Cuckoos in Cwm Doethie and a further 2 at Dalar Wen.
