Cross Inn Woods
Not as exciting as a Hoopoe but I was pleased to see a Kestrel up at the woods today. At least 3 pairs of Stonechats and several Cuckoos calling, with 3 doing a fly past.
Lots of Common Blues around. At first I thought, "Why are there no females?" then I realised ( when I saw pairs mating) that the females were of the blue variety rather than the usual brown form. I have seen the brown form up there before so I assume that both types exist there.
