It was another disappointing turn out for our walk around Bryngwyn today - I
think that the weather may have put a lot of people off. Sue and Terry made us
very welcome and the walk around their farm was very interesting if a little
wet! The birds were, very sensibly, keeping a low profile but we managed to get
a pretty good list of species seen and heard :- chaffinch, greenfinch, magpie,
dunnock (these were making the most of the bad weather and singing well),
buzzard, kite, crow, goldfinch, blackbird, blue tit, great tit, jackdaw,
swallow, robin, wood pigeon, wren, collard dove, jay, starling, willow
warbler, and blackcap.
We enjoyed talking to Sue and Terry about the management of the farm and the
flora and wildlife they have been bringing back. Alan and I could not resist
checking under the corrugated sheets they use as reptile refuges but
unfortunately there was nobody home.
Thanks to Sue and Terry for a very interesting and entertaining morning.
