In between the heavy showers and even heavier rain this morning there was a window of dry and even fairly bright weather.
Looking out to sea, a light passage of eight Gannets stood out against the black storm clouds. Four Common Scoter also went south.
Then, slowly drifting south came an Eider; an adult male somewhere between eclipse and breeding plumage. I was just enjoying that when a Great Crested Grebe came into view, also drifting along.
Soon afterwards Helen Herbert arrived, so we were both able to enjoy the birds, particularly the Eider which had come in fairly close just to the south of Castle point.
A quick wader count came up with 14 Turnstones and 11 Ringed Plover.
