Soon after I arrived, John and Bob turned up, to be followed later by Meurig (a mature gathering indeed).
We got off to a good start as Bob found a Merlin hurtling up the estuary, and then a call alerted us to an overflying Chough .
Nothing unusual in the wader roost at the point, but the birds looked stunning in the bright sunlight.
We had counts of 172 Golden and 5 Grey Plover, plus two Turnstones, one still in almost full summer plumage, and two juv Sanderling.
Not large numbers of Dunlin and Ringed Plover here; we counted them later when they and us had moved round to the estuary side, and got 93 and 27 respectively, plus 12 Redshank, a few Curlews and a light passage of Swallows with small numbers of Skylark and Meadow Pipit.
There was a Wheatear on the track by the boatyard.
