Dead Herring Gulls in Borth
I'm a bird watcher and have lived in Ynyslas and Borth for 30 years. I'm not a member of your group, but I'm a friend of Moira.. In the course of a run this evening I came across two dead herring gulls - one on the green at Aberwennol under the telegraph post and the other in the donkey field by the railway crossing near Borth station. The first bird may have been knocked over and put there or electrocuted by being blown into the wires - though there was no obvious injury or burns. The second bird was near wires too and may have blown into them, but I didn't investigate further. However I've never seen herring gulls dead around the place like this before.other than washed up on the beach or obviously run over and now the tip is closed they're unlikely to have caught botulism. I just thought that if your members see more dead birds then something may be going on. I'am told some people don't like them nesting on their chimneys.
