Cwm Doethie
Fantastic as ever. 17 Whinchats, 5 Reed Buntings and a couple of Grasshopper Warblers. There was a group of 9 juvenile Stonechats just near the hostel. Struggled with Yellowhammers going down but returning uphill the wind was blowing their song into my ears more clearly and I heard 6 singing males. The track from the hostel to Soar y Mynydd is closed to vehicles. The winter erosion near the hostel is astonishing. The rain has cut a trench in the path that in places was taller than myself. Liz, if you read this I was wondering; when you go to Cwm Doethie, where do you park? I parked at the hostel and very nearly didn't get back out. One short, steep, eroded section almost had me.
