Meanwhile up in the hills yesterday.*..

Cwm Berwyn is changing rapidly with new areas of felling and yesterday we found a large group of pipits feeding on the freshly exposed ground.  Also surprisingly a family of grey wags feeding along a murky ditch.  Alone on a felled stump were 2 crossbills but they were too far away to get good pics, nevertheless they are the first I have seen in 12 months as last year was disastrously short on cones.  This year almost every tree is weighed down with them so hopefully there will be more to see this winter.
Down at Soar Y Mynydd we looked in vain for the eagle but a buzzard looked good against the blue sky.  In a tour of eastern Scotland this summer we counted buzzards on one hand but I won't depress you by recommending the raptor persecution website!
