The one that got away

At Llanrhystud this morning I saw a small wader flying low over the rocky shore which I initially took to be a Sanderling. However, it appeared to alight on the sea briefly(30 seconds), about 20m out. I say "appeared" because at this point the sea would be very shallow and it could have been perched on a submerged rock. Either way, this struck me as a little odd for a Sanderling, but maybe not? Anyway, I was thinking that it could be a Grey Phalarope when it made off and I was left undecided. I bumped into Red a little later so hope he will have seen the bird in question. Others present inc. 23 Med. Gulls and the leucistic Oystercatcher.
