On a walk this afternoon along the Ffarmers Road up the hill from Llanddewi Brefi, I turned off onto the first public footpath near old quarry workings now covered with scrub. A flock of chaffinches caught my eye and on closer inspection there were 4 bramblings among them. Two males and two females. These are the first bramblings I have seen this winter, we usually get one or two in the garden but not so far this year. Perhaps they are on their way down to the village.
