Mynydd Bach
Flock of around 35 lapwing flying over Llyn Eiddwen. On the lake, 4 goldeneye (1 male, 3 females), two groups of goosander (2 pairs and at the other end of the lake 3 males and 2 females). Also 2 pairs of mallards and what looked like a black-backed gull (can't say if great or lesser). Another male mallard almost collided with me up at the trig point. Single canada goose on the small pond visible from up there. Small flock of fieldfare at Trefenter and a larger group (I counted 70 but given there were more on the nearby field it could have been close to 100) together with a few redwing on a field near Brynffin (where the road going round Llyn Eiddwen meets the Bontnewydd road again. At Llyn Fanod, 16 canada geese, 3 greylag and around 60 lapwing. Small numbers of fieldfare and redwing nearby. 2 canada geese on Brynamlwg pond. Also had a quick stop at Pont Einon on the way back where there were 2 mute swan, 3 canada geese and a pair of goosander. I am also very happy to report that the eagle has survived the recent fox shooting campaign in Cwm Berwyn unharmed - as it usually does, it sneaked up on me at a location where I did not expect it at all, apparently on its way home after a little spin.
