On another glorious sunny day I started at the beach car park at Llanrhystud. A look at the sea revealed six Common Scoter, three Manx Shearwaters and three Sandwich Terns.
A Sand Martin went north with two Swallows, then my attention was drawn to a flock of small waders disturbed by a dog walker towards the lime kilns. As they settled, I made my way closer and was surprised to find a very high count of 46 Ringed Plover, accompanied by a Dunlin and a Turnstone.
At the same time a little passage of Wheatears was moving through: I counted 11 with a White Wagtail and two Linnets.
Back at the car park, a flock of mostly Black-headed Gulls which had flown onto a nearby field included four 1st winter Mediterranean.
On to the car park near Plas Morfa hotel next. Very little along the coast path, just four more Linnets. Offshore, another two Sandwich Terns, two Common Scoter and three Gannets. Three Red-throated Divers on the flat calm sea were all still in non-breeding plumage.
Finally, a Great Grey Shrike still present in the usual area of Cross Inn forest. Couldn't see if it was ringed.
Also, six Lesser Redpoll, two Willow Tits and at least one Tree Pipit.
