Cors Caron and Cuckoos

Cors Caron & Cuckoo sightings (or rather 'hearings')
Two birds I have not encountered on Cors Caron before were a male Pied Flycatcher (last Friday) and two Common Whitethroat (yesterday). Curlew flying over and calling yesterday evening - one of the most eery yet beautiful sounds. On another note, someone was asking for cuckoo sightings on the Ceredigion Smallholders & Pets Facebook forum and many people replied. Here's a list of the locations mentioned for the record, in no particular order: Llanrhystud, Joppa, Talybont, Pontrhydfendigaid, Ponterwyd, Bwlchllan, Cors Caron, Llanllwni, Cilcennin, near Devil's Bridge, Cross Inn, Ystumtuen, Bronnant, Cwrtnewydd, Aberystwyth - near Bronglais, Ffair Rhos, Llandyfan, Llandeusant, Bethania, between Talsarn and Cilcennin, Tegryn, Trawscoed, Trisant, Trefenter, Clywedog and Llanon.

Silke

I have posted Silke's email in full as people may be interested in the wide range of locations where Cuckoos have been recorded.
In fact, there are a couple of places on the list that I've never heard of, despite having lived in Ceredigion for nearly 26 years.
To the above we can add the recent sightings from Lis (Cwm Rheidol) and Andy (Cors Ian), and also  Ynyshir, both the main reserve and Foel Fawr across the valley.

PS
I visited Cors Ian earlier today, and the first two birds I heard on leaving the car were Curlew and Cuckoo, both of which I enjoyed good views of later.
