I enjoyed a superb view in
Cross
Inn Forest yesterday evening (Friday) of two
Nightjars flying around me. I heard a number of flight calls and a couple of
wing claps but no churring. One was particularly obliging, perching on top of a
nearby young conifer and sitting on the path about 30 yards in front of me.
This was followed soon after by the
sound of two Tawny Owls calling in the tall trees, one of which I saw perched on
a branch for a short while before it flew to another location nearby.
