Some 25 years ago, at our home near Bow Street, we decided to establish a woodland garden extending to about half an acre. A range of native deciduous species together with a few exotics were established. Now the woodland is beginning to mature and with it has come a range of wildlife.
Today it has come to fruition when I discovered that a pair of Pied Flycatchers were nesting in one of the many nest boxes we had installed. The first we have seen here and a great delight to see the adults carrying food to their young. A lesson - it sometime takes a long time for some conservation projects to yield their rewards.
