Siskins

Coed Y Bont  appeared full of siskins this morning, calling and typically very active many were very pale and streaky so maybe the bumper seed crop this year produced very fit females for breeding.
Even a small tree held over 30 individuals and during our bird count which took over 3 hours we were never out of earshot of their calls.  Not only were they clustered on the larches but  were making the most of hawthorn blossom.  The clear fell area was also busy with redpolls and singing willow warblers hopefully on second nests.
